I'm now thinking as I done with module that all joints need to be be reflowed/ soldered once problems arise on a PCB.It took years to solve the dry joint problems in my cruise control compounded by problems with the VSS. You will be lucky if you fix all the dry joints on the first pass.
Was initially apprehensive about reflowing IC joints but saw the halo's so done so......with time gaps between each terminal alternating between ICs to avoid heat damage and using heat sinks where possible.
On critical components it probably pays to investigate if components are available first, use a heat sink and do them all.....painstaking but a cheap repair.
