Check engine light

Hey.. ok.. I have another issue
Thought the car was ready to go over for a blue slip, BUT the car has decided to show this light

Which is doing my head in now. Admittedly my battery isn't 100% charged and the car hasn't been on a drive for nearly a year. The alternator, coils and starter motor have all been replaced..

But this light is messing with me haha.. I've looked all over the net and come up with so many things.
From emissions control to the computer just registering the fault code because the battery had been dead.

Anyone able to give any advice of what it could be? Pleaseeee haha

Have you tested for fault codes by bridging your OBD plug and counting the flashers?
It could just go out once it has a run, it can mean a lot of things.

see if you get it scanned, check the oil pressure switch

Would you know which Obd port is in 2000 Vx Commodore? Obd1 or OBD2? I'm thinking of buying a scanner so I can hopefully clear the code.

I've also got a 2003 VY V6 with an SRS fault code too

Its 1, OBD2 only works from 2004.
You can buy the program on ebay and plug it into your computer, it comes with the popper plug.

it is actually ALDL with an obd2 plug

vx fault codes read a little different to vn-vt so read up when try split pin method.

I was like wtf....then searched jc forum to find out why.
