Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

Did this a while ago, no faults, tried it again tonight and I get clunking and continuous flashing. Tried searching, found nothing. Am I **** at it or is my car being a piece of poo?

i have a jan '99 vs siii statesaman so do i use the '98 vs statesman codes or '99 wh statesman codes?

fan not kicking in when in diagnostic mode

hello, just wanted to know if the fan is meant to kick in when in diagnostic mode on a vs series II v6??

mine doesnt kick in but goes into diagnostic mode as the engine light flashing


ive also been having problems with temp going to 3/4 before fan kicks in, have so far changed ecu coolant sensor, temp gauge sender, thermostat?

Code 56 - Running lean under load

hi all,
just checked the codes on my VR which i've had for a week, It came up with code 56 running lean under load. as there is not much info on what could be wrong i called my local holden dealer and talked to a tech. he said check for a vacume leek and also check the fuel filter. so i'll do that and post the results later

Code 56 Results
i replaced the fuel and air filters and removed the fuel pump, i'd been having trouble when the tank gets to 1/4 and the car would stall. i know that the tank had been out of the car, and that the pump may have not been installed properly into the swell pot located in the tank. did all that and the code has gone.

Code 45 - Oxygen Sensor Rich (o2)

LOL, and now i have this error, would any one have an idea? apart from change the o2 sensor!! I'll sus it out and post the results.

I just got 2 error codes:

31: Theft deterrent signal missing; and
56: Running lean under load.

Any idea what the cost is to get these fixed? Cheers

I had the code 31 and 56. my vr has a key in the passenger door for the security system, it was off, had a key made and now it all works. other than that it may be ur remote key fob. there are other threads on this. as for code 56 i removed the fuel sender/pump unit only to find that the rubber joiner on the pump wasn't attached properly so ony got half fuel pressure. i'd start at the pump and check u have pressure all the way up to the fuel rails on the motor. iv'e replaced all my filters too.

Fan Kicks in

I have exactly the same issue - shorted out pins 5 & 6 - radiator fan starts up when key is turned 2 clicks and no engine light at all!!:cry:

i stuck it in 5 and 6 and the fan under the hood started spinning wtf is up with that

My radiator fan starts up - no engine light flashes - WHY??
