Do the reverse lights work? I suspect not?

Check the transmission fuse. May need replacing?

Which one is that ? Where is it located ?

I know this might be a long shot but if the battery isn't performing, it causes all sorts of trouble.
Battery is factory battery...so just over 4 yrs old...

I checked 2 TCM fuses in the engine bay (F41 and F50) and both are fine

It seems the fault code is specific to the transmission part of things . I had the 27mm BCM fitted today and the mechanic was telling me he had a similar problem with everything going haywire but didn't show any fault code , turned out to be the ABS module

When u had your engine replaced, maybe mechanic didn't push a harness connector all the way in and popped out ? When I had my gearbox replaced under warranty, the stupid mechanic forgot to bolt the trans mount, so it was loose knocking on my exhaust. I fixed myself and never went back to that dealership again.

Maybe....
It's been well over a year since engine replacement though...
Where would this harness connector be ?

Yeah, now I’d think the mechanics didn’t plug things in correctly when replacing the motor and the plug has worked loose or some wiring was squashed during the engine install and suffered some damage that took some time to manifest... luckily it’s all under warranty... only issue is what other thing will a mechanic stuff up when fixing this issue

Not a mechanics fault as such since modern cars just shouldn’t have their skirts lifted and touched inappropriately ... Fluid changes are about the only thing cars easily tolerate :p
