I have had commodores since the release of the VN, now driving a VX II. I am so disappointed with the number of failures of the computer modules over the years due to dry joints. Have replaced 3 ECUs in the VN and now find my VX has a faulty ABS module. Can't believe these problems still occur after years of experience by Holden and their supply manufacturers. Just imagine if they failed as much in aircraft.

Who would of thought that after just 12 years of use that a component would have failed, unbelievable.

Feel free to name any other automotive manufacturer that wouldn't have had failures like this.

I'd suggest you are either mighty unlucky or doing something that causes failures as there are hundreds of thousands (millions?) in service without a problem and very few are giving a problem now.

same here, two ABS modules but nothing else.

The ABS modules effect a whole range of cars though not just Commodores.

Definitely unlucky that all 3 ECU units had failed due to dry joints on the circuit boards, with one in the first year. Holden did acknowledge the problem, similar to the early coil pack saga.

However it did spawn a cottage industry to repair units securely, with the last VN one fitted managing to last until putting it out to pasture. I see ABS units have a similar number of repairers, with hopefully a similar good result. A bit concerned if air bags deployed (or not) due a faulty control module.

Can't see that been a problem as that could very well result in serious injury and a full recall would have been in order.

Nothing lasts forever - people or cars. VX is now 13/14 years old - you have to expect some problems.
