Cut it open and look. It's a resonator. If you don't want to cut it open, poke a bit of wire or something through it, it will go straight through.

"Early Alloytec 175kW engine has only two oxygen sensors, to comply with Euro II emission standards. The 190kW Allowtec has four (both pre & post catalytic converter), to comply with Euro III emission standards. Later model Alloytec 175kW engines also have four oxygen sensors, to comply with Euro III emission standards."
Jan 1 2006 Euro III was enforced, and therefore the standard Alloytecs lost 3kW (down to 172kW), the Alloytec 190 didn't as it already had 4 cats.

Trust me, my system had 4 cats, I'm looking at them right now, and mine is a 2005 model.

Then why are the rear sensors in FRONT of the rear "cats"?

They do have 4 sensors, two in front of the cats up near the manifold, and two behind them, in front of the resonators.

Have you put something down the end of it?

Wire won't go thru, it sticks right there.
And you're right, the rear sensors are after the cats, after the first set of them

It's probably getting hung up on the perforations in the tube, it's not a cat. Cut the end off and have a look.
