There is also a revised AC Pulley setup from GMH to stop belt throwing on the L98. This was a factory fit on series 2 onwards. Once your balancer is replaced if your belt throws off again you can use this:

early VE LS also had issues throwing a/c belt so there is a revised tensioner setup for them also, damn didnt read above quick enough !!

OK ordered a Powerbond and a new belt as mines gone walkabout...

Guy who's done some work on a prev vehicle and knows his stuff has quoted $750 or $1105 with the upgraded air con pulley, but can't do it till end of March as fully booked.

Is there a section of this forum to tout for work?

So I have the balancer, the bolt, new air con belt, and the removal tool with the carrier pigeon. I've changed gearboxes on 4 cylinders, turbos, and a few pieces on my SS. I work in mechanical field albeit the 2 wheeled variety. My local mechanic can't do this till mid March and I'll have the parts in a few days. I see there isn't much room there with the engine in, and my mechanic says it's a pig to get off and a pig to get on, but then he wants $750 to swap it inc parts, $1000 if I add the air con ungrade. Is this THAT much of a pic to do guys?

It's awkward but once the radiator is out it's not that bad. Sounds like your mechanic isn't interested
