Remove all stickers, inside and out, drive sensibly and you will be fine, you'll still get pulled over, but typically just a ID check and booze and drug check

Most importantly, be polite to the police, turn your music off, say g'day and smile, don't even think about mouthing off or arguing

I was a heatseeker when I was young and on my P plates, early 80's, I lost my licence twice, and lost a job because I didn't have a licence

Lucky for me a police officer gave me a clip over my head, told me where I was going wrong, and to adjust my attitude, I listened

Since then I have always had heavily modified cars and bikes, but, from looking at them, they didn't really stick out

If you want to go fast, buy something and build it for the drags or circuit racing

Use the Commodore as nice clean daily, and possibly a tow rig for the next few years

Building a race car is money better spent than paying fines, or riding public transport because you lost your licence

Where do you want to be in 10 years?, start heading there legally

yeah i know the worst thing you can do is be a c*nt to the coppas cause theyll find anything. one of my mates at work, hes about 46, said he got defected for not having enough washer fluid, what a fu*king joke. but yeah im not gonna thrash this thing, might do a few stupid things now and again, but thats just my age. and yeah once im about 19 wanna buy a ls3, completely strip and rebuild it, put it in a vr, with a harrop supercharger, and go nuts. long way away from that though, probably will change my plans in the next few years no doubt lol

Plans change when you mature, you start to think of 10year plans, then retirement plans

I'm at the point were the kids are adulting and moved out, or moving out, so my house, car and bike budget is good, I'm doing all the things I couldn't afford to do in my youth

Life is good, thanks to a copper 40 odd years ago that set me on the right path

Your right about treating them with respect. Worst case, if they randomly pull over for no reason, just act like you don’t know anything about cars and that you did not know anything about the modifications “done prior to you buying the car”. Not sure if this would work. I think unless your are driving in an illegal manner and they see you, or your car looks is awfully loud or slammed, then you might be fine. Put it this way, I am not too afraid when driving my sv6 with some mild modifications on my red p plates.

If/ when you have to drive like a hoon p-plater driving a Commodore or Falcon, don’t do it in an obvious place with people nearby or cameras.

Anyway, like you see on ACA or TV, a lot of p platers who get pulled over tend to be driving erratically when pulled over, or have a slammed Mang machine (Usually VZ commodore or prior) with tire slap all over the guards.

The moment you argue, disrespect them, or give them lip is when they will go out of their way (AKA take their job to seriously) to defect your car as best as possible.

If they pull you over (randomly for not reason) remember, you don’t know anything at all about cars, and you bought the car like this. Just act dumb and not give them an attitude. I’ll say it again, “you don’t know anything about cars whatsoever” when they pull you over. “It was just a cheap car you found for sale on Facebook market place, and they guy you sold the car did not mention anything about modifications and said the car was well looked after.

As those after market headers get rusty, they may look more stock. My stock headers were quite rusty.

Hopefully this is obvious, but advice given here will not have a positive impact on insurance whatsoever as insurance companies will try their damnedest to not pay out should they worst happen. This applies to anyone driving a stock Toyota Camry or a 900hp HSV Clubsport.

yeah i wish i didnt throw the heatshield out when i was doing my exhaust. ill probably get one online somewhere and see how it fits. and yeah i know man, it is a bit of a cop magnet. just want it to look nice and not have a grandpa spec look. its fine when youve got an ls under the bonnet because at least youll be fast, just dont want it to look sh*t and pretty much be sh*t too. but yeah if i do keep getting pulled over stickers are the first thing to go.
put headers(pacmaker) on my 08 ve v6 berlina and the stock heat shilds donr fit so i just left them off. Did over 100000k no issues at all.

I think your right. The stock manifold had holes for the shields to bolt down too

LOL not enough washer fluid.
Either they wash or they don't wash.
If your mate at work decided to dispute that he would have a good chance of winning.
Years ago I knew a copper who told me their particular station had a weekly competition where they all put in $2 and whoever wrote the silliest fine won the weekly pot.
Sounds like it might be still going.

With regard to the heat shield, no point in fitting a heat shields to hide the headers bc cops will simply pull up any info from the past (headers noted) and look to see if they have been removed.
Or worse you will get the same cop who remembers you and your car.
Bingo, you cop a fine and points bc you were warned then you will hate coppers for evermore.
You need to understand cars are a milking cow for Govmint and young people who spend money on cars are a bigger milking cow.
These days we all have to use the kiss principal, keep it simple stupid.
Your call.

When I bought my Crewman, it had a Bundy Bear sticker, and one of those longhorn cattle stickers, that take up the whole length of the window.
I felt I should have been wearing a big hat and playing country or western CDs for the 700km drive home.
First modification done ....... remove them.
