Hilarious over quotes

Was looking for a tap a while ago (the thread type, not water) and got quoted $86 from the first place. Thought holy ****, went to three other places and it turns out $86 isn't that bad. The dearest was $160. 3/8 BSPF.

I use to make these taps in Hamilton vic,-lol,they were good quality back in those days and they were worth it when you see what goes into a proper designed tap and die set,however when I worked there we were able to order these sets for about 200 when they were being sold for 3 times that much in toolshops,so there is definitely a mark up
wish I had bought more back then-ohhhhh well-hindsight

That's not too bad of a price, especially if it included all the drag links and chassis-to-body bushes.

While some things here are over quotes there also appears to be a lot of people who don't realize these shops are running a business, not a charity. Just because you did it yourself for half the price doesn't mean you were over quoted.

absolutely agree, at the time I thought it was a bit steep and wasn't worth it for that ute, but once I done it myself, I realised, as I wrote, that for $100 p/h plus parts and overheads, it really wasn't that bad

Quoted for $3200 for a Oil return Hose for a Turbo, went to Enzed and got a "custom" made one for $10.

everytime ive rang them for a fitting its been around the 100 buck mark, or get it from VPW in ally for 20.
