Was looking for a tap a while ago (the thread type, not water) and got quoted $86 from the first place. Thought holy ****, went to three other places and it turns out $86 isn't that bad. The dearest was $160. 3/8 BSPF.
I use to make these taps in Hamilton vic,-lol,they were good quality back in those days and they were worth it when you see what goes into a proper designed tap and die set,however when I worked there we were able to order these sets for about 200 when they were being sold for 3 times that much in toolshops,so there is definitely a mark up
wish I had bought more back then-ohhhhh well-hindsight
