So whats the go? We have an MY11 Cruze but didn't buy the car new. Do we have to contact Holden to get some direction on this?

If you didn't lodge a change of ownership with them when you bought the car, then maybe do that via their website so at least they will have your details when they issue the recall letters.

When you buy a second hand vehicle, it’s best to contact the manufacture/importer and let them know the vehicle’s VIN & rego numbers and your contact details. Then get some statement whether all known recalls for that vehicle have actually been addressed ;)

That way, when there is a future recall OS, they can ignore the issue and tell the government it isn’t relevant for the australian sold vehicles

Seriously, if there is some recall in future, you will be easier to contact as the manufacturer/importer would have your contact details.

I have an '08 Forester affected by the Takata recall. I bought the car used in 2014. I had no contact with Subaru prior to the recall, but I received a letter from Subaru advising the recall, I presume my address was provided via NSW RTA, so the manufacturer can find you if they want to. It took nearly a year to get that airbag replaced from first contact letter. The number of suspect airbags for various manufacturers huge, I think a figure of more than 3 million cars in Australia alone?

I read an aticle today that quoted 4 mill....either way it is a sh!t ton.

TBH, I don't think they have a real clue yet.

The dealers are going to be howling. All that workshop time with no retail charge out.

There's plenty of Holdens, no Commodores though.

Yup, can't publish but if you have a non Commodore Holden between 2005-2018 I can say if it's on the list or not.

I haven't seen Korean built cars on the list. I'm guessing they use a Korean manufacturer, not Takata. If that's the case, perhaps Holden's Korean built cars are exempt.
