7) Remove the ball joint from the strut. This could be a bit of a bitch depending on how firmly it's been sitting there. The trick is to undo the nut, then once again bash the side of where the ball joint sits really hard with a big hammer. If this fails, hit harder, or find abigger hammer.

Get in the ute
read pm adam - bigger hammer.

p.s.

if you absolutely can't get the balljoint out with a big hammer and a lot of brute force

you could buy a 'ball joint splitter' from k-mart or bursons or whatever equivalent is close.

It's like a wedge fork thig that slides in between the balljoint and strut, and you smack it really hard.

I would imagine this will bugger your rubber boot around the balljoint though :(

or, you can get away with just popping the strut out to the side, if you're just doing shocks/springs - like (green)|foam|(media) did.

Luke.. Where the hell did you get access to a hoist?

I was thinking you might be a mechanic, using yours or your bosses workshop, but your profile says IT consultant..

Whatever your answer will be, you're a lucky bastard..

haha yeah IT consultant by day, mechanic by night :)

It's a place I used to work at, they have a big office building and stuff...and like.... 500sq M of warehouse space behind the big office building.

300 of those meters are pretty much empty, except for a hoist in one corner, and the bosses boats in the other..

and I get to use the hoist if i give them notice and stuff :)
