Had a few people wanting their HVAC tested and most of you would know when it blows hot air up the windscreen then one of the actuators is gone and quite often the drivers side upper one.
Well had two where the far left (recirc door) one has failed and when it errors out it takes out the other two on the left side (floor vent and heat/cool vent) because all 3 run a logic circuit and the recirc door has to pass.
Anyway one of the cars was needed urgently as only vehicle and kids so they asked is there anyway to get the vents locked into position so cold air comes out?
Thought about it for an hour or two and made a cable with a DPDT micro switch so could have reverse polarity and put on a 12v connector to run of a 4A 12v supply and just plug into the actuators and move them to where they work for cold aircon and then disconnect and don't plug them back into the car and now they can wait until the school holidays to get fixed properly.
The cable worked so well thought I might share it as not only good for what I used it for but also for testing the actuators one by one.
