G’day, new here. Was wondering if it’d be illegal to get one of those muffler delete things that bolt on to the factory exhaust, was looking into getting one from empire performance with a resonator but wanted to know if I’d get in trouble. Cheers!

The legal noise volume of an exhaust in Vic is a hair dryer on full.

You decide if it's legal or not.

That's likely the case. I just saw on TV where a car was defected for a noisy exhaust and it was said the volume of a hair dryer on full was the limit. Considering Vic seem less tolerant and have yearly inspections I don't see the OP getting away with it for long.

Hmmm okay, I’d have to have a think about it then aye. Not sure what the yearly inspections are, but thanks nonetheless for your advice

Vic doesn't have yearly inspections, that's NSW.

90db for passenger car manufactured after 1983.

Cutouts unsure if legal but generally you cannot control them from inside the vehicle when in motion, similar to airbag suspension.

I must be wrong I thought Vic had to have pre rego inspections each year? Or is that just NSW?

I think that’s just nsw, here I think we only have to do inspections/roadworthys when transferring owners and getting a car registered or clearing a defect
