Just bought a set of hsv 340 clubsport headers/cats. I'm planning on fitting them up this weekend. Just wanted to ask, Is it ok if i drive the car with them on without the rear O2 sensor connected? I know it will illum the dash light, but can I cause any damage? Have tune booked for first week of october, so it will be tuned/OTR fitted then and they'll just shut off the rear sensors i imagine.
Before you fit them just nick on down to an exhaust shop and get sensor bungs welded in to your mid section if you don’t have them,only take a few minutes then fit your headers and enjoy.
The rear sensors only read the change in O2 from the front sensors to tell if the cats are working. Will throw the light but won't hurt anything.
Yep, got them from JHP. Going to weld up some bungs at home tonight. They only cost me $24 and 15 minutes top drill/weld so why not.
I did this until I got mine tuned and turned off, that way no light, ro reset needed later on. The HSV LS3 headers def let the engine breath a lot better and the engine feels free as well through the rev range. One mod I am happy I did as it cost me next to nothing.
Forget about LSAs as you already have them on your car,go HSVs if you if can find a set with cats or just get headers and after market cats.
Forget about LSA stainless 4-1 as I already have stock 4-1 mild steel? Found some places in Melbourne with stock hsv exhausts but none in adelaide and they dont ship. LSA manifold might have fitment issue due to oil cooler I have read elsewhere
Ok,LSA headers are exactly the same as std VF V8 headers,ie cast iron four into one headers into std cats that are used across all std VF V8s,the reason being that LSA engines don’t have extractors is the exhaust is pushed out by positive displacement supercharging not scavenged or sucked out as on non supercharged V8s,the best bang for $ is to hunt down a set of HSV tubular headers,they come in two sizes,2 1/4 and 2 1/2 exit size,the later is the rarest,use these tubular headers with HSV cats bolted to your std system you don’t need a tune and stays in EPA regulations or go hole hog if you have $ and go four into one after market headers with cats to suit for more grunt and nicer noise but you will need a tune with more $.
Appreciate it. Quite a few on the east but not adelaide. Want to keep it stockish for warranty maybe after would go a full custom system.
Hi all just a quick question I’m just wondering what’s the difference between the 325kw hsv tri Y’s and the 340kw ones??
Sedan centre sections are shorter than ute centre sections right? everything else fits perfect in stock location. So I could source HSV tri Y, cats and muffler from anything but need a maloo centre section?
yep sedan and wagon are the same ute is longer, and i think some of the hangers are in slightly different locations
I didnt know JHP sell these headers as i couldnt find them on their website. Is this a regular sold item?
They've been up for a while but ran out of the 340s still have 325s. Wonder what the difference is? slightly smaller diameter outlet
