Thinking about it, I’m going suggest that this will be a painful and complex project. If it was easy, it would be a common thing and it’s not.

If you have to run the series 2 harness, you’ll need detailed pinouts for it and I don’t think anyone has found a series 2 factory manual that would have those details.

Then you’ll need to be really savvy with programming and linking the S2 ECM.

Hmm, perhaps. All I know is the guys at GC Cars Nerang apparently do this exact swap almost every day, and offer to do it for about $4000. That makes me think it can’t be too complicated, but I guess they’ve got the process down pretty well by now. I’m gonna try give them a call tomorrow and see if they’d be willing to share some info on what’s involved. If it is too complex it may be better for me to just get them to do it.

Why do you need a LFX ?,
Because they say they are better ?
Swap it one for one !

LLT for LLT
LFX for LFX,

It will save the brain from hurting,
And especially your Back Pocket.

Well for one thing LLTs are much harder to come by, especially with low ks, and then they’re much more expensive, and less reliable (or else I probably wouldn’t be in this mess). I’ve seen that it’s possible to do LLT to LFX, I just need to know the details.

Maybe search out of the state,
There is a heap of VE's around Melbourne Wreckers, get it roved and shipped up,
Or drive down with a trailer and collect it, make a weekend of it.

Almost every LLT engine I can find is at least $4000 with high ks, including out of state, where LFXs are going for about $2500, and that’s for a better engine with lower ks and much closer to me. It will be much better for me to go with the LFX if I can find the info on how to do the swap

The catch will be the software and you can bet the guys at that shop have nailed it.

If you do it, expect weeks or months of challenging reverse engineering, intense study of harnesses and wiring diagrams from VF and S1 VE (the only two available)

And to swap it to a LFX will possible cost in the excess of $1,500 for the Programming and labor, + an oh shite factor into the price.

I would get a Quote first, you will be surprised, and make sure your sitting down !
