Update... The car is still driving me nuts and I have booked it in with VCM in early Sept to have another look at it. Will keep you all posted on the results.

FWIW, all the main tuners down in Melbourne (Chev's, HPF, GM Motorsport) have told me they wouldn't touch my car if I wanted to hang on to the DOD (AFM equipment) stuff if I wanted to change the cam. All the cam packages you see from these tuners come with the cam, non-afm lifters, valve springs and pushrods. You're problem lies with AFM. Get it removed and I'm willing to bet it will run like magic.

Agreed that the AFM setup will not like a decent cam at all, this is why they removed the AFM at the same time as the cam installation. My gut feeling is that it is a tuning issue but I am no expert.

Lol, specialists huh? When I took it to them to have a look at earlier on, they could not even begin to tune it. Their best suggestion was to replace a 3-month old battery to fix the issues with the car. Not "the VE specialists" from my experience at all.

M500,

Sorry mate if this has already been looked at. Reading through the posts I didn't notice if the tuners had turned off the AFM mode in the ECM. I understand they may have removed the mechanical function of AFM when doing your cam, but hopefully they turned the function off in the software.

As for the ECM being 'locked' I have only heard of this happening when tuning software (like HP Tuners, EFILive) has been used to tune the car and the tuner has locked the ECM data. This can be overcome by taking your car to holden to check if there are any ECM/TCM updates and if so get it flashed. This will put the car back to factory for another tuner to start from scratch. This is only if the orignial tuner did not save the factory tune from you car before tuning it.

My suggestion to you would be next time your in Melbourne take it to Chev's and I am sure it will be sorted. As for your hi fuel usage I have heard that depending on the type of cam installed it will dictate whether its a fuel hog or not, but as you know you need to have the tune sorted out.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers
Phil

Thanks for the suggestion re Chev's, I'll give them a go if VCM can't get it right this time.

They have locked the ECM tune, but I was surprised when KPM said they coulnt get into it and then proceeded to tell me that the battery would fix it anyway. KPM from what I understand were/ are an authorized VCM workshop.

The cam is a decent one but not too radical (I can't remember the specs from the top of my head), from memory it is the VCM-7 cam if you can be bothered going to their website.
