Hello all,

Now I've got the Fiesta I have started to drive a manual again after a 2.5-3 year hiatus. I am curious as to how people change gear on the street? Do you do the full double-declutch/heel and toe, or do you do as minimal as possible? What steps/procedures do people do? There's the way I do it, may not be the best way (I don't double declutch or heel and toe, but I do rev-match out on the open road)

Depends on the car,

My VK I have heel & toe on back changes else in most cases it wont go into gear smoothly esp second.

Other cars depends on the gearbox, speeds and where its driven.

If its a Fiesta the gears are in a box throw em in and sort em out later :)

Anyone who says they constantly heel and toe a daily driver is blowing smoke.

Clutch in, change gear then clutch out and I rev match when changing down so it doesn't jerk. Heel and toe and double clutching is seriously unneccessary for street driving.

I'm with Grennan, often with the Ka I don't bother hitting the clutch (too much hardwork) pull it out and jam it into the next one when the revs sound right....if it doesn't fit... give it another bash!

Ok, so I'm not that bad but I do quite often ignore the clutch. I also drove a Mercedes A-Class years ago that was manual but had no clutch... so when I got rid of it, I sometimes simply forgot! The harsh grinding of my gears soon woke me up to the error of my ways.

Double the clutch? The only time i did that was when i learnt to drive a truck . No need for it in almost all cars.
