Hi
Got the mock up car (muc) of the stands today. Also got a permit to drive on the road. Test drove it.
Speedo works. But not accurate. Not sure if l can tweak it in the TCU software to make it more accurate or not.
Reverse lights not working. I'll have to play with that too.

Other than those 2 issues, l'm very happy. Seems very smooth through the gears (l only used drive). Didn't try manual mode (left side of the shifter), forgot.

Its a 7 day permit. I thought l'd get the extra few days for testing. Extra $7-8. for the extra 6 days.

Getting closer to installing into my car.

Got the speedo working properly.
Wasn't able to get the reverse lights or the neural safety switch working. Have to go through a couple of relays. I possible could wire them. But, if l wire wrong, l'll blow the tcm. If that happened, it'd be cheaper & easier to get another tranny. Then would l wire it wrong again? Lets not go down that path!
So have booked it into the auto elect. Wednesday. (even cheaper :))

I have installed a Mace manual memcal. into the PCM. Stops getting check engine light (it's looking for the tranny & can't find it:eek:).
The engine is idling at about 1500 rpm on startup & stays there at the moment (tps, air leak?). Hope to have it sorted before l take to auto elec.

If everything goes okay, maybe in about 10 days, l'll have it installed into my daily?:)
After that, it'll be time for the paddle shifter install. (more fun times ahead (fuking headaches)?

Its in.
I took it for a drive to supermarket (6 km). First test.
Very quiet & smooth.

Plastics were rattling around, (wtf).

Speedo 5 km out. When doing 60 kmph, by gps, car speedo reading was 65 kmph. Easy fix, change pulses per kilometer, in the program for setting up the tcu.

Still have to wire the reversing lights & neutral safety switches with a relay(s).

Lots of little things to do.

I'm very tired. So, when l've recharged my batteries, l'll get everything sorted (including paint), then post some pics.

Got the speedo more accurate at 60 kmh, by gps, its 58 kmh. At 80 kmh by speedo, its 76 kmh by gps.
I suppose at 100 kmh, it will be more inaccurate? I think l'll leave it, for now. I spend more time in a 60 kmh speed zone, than 80 or 100.

First time on a 80 kmh road, l got a check engine light. Turned car off, when restarted, no more engine light. Took home, & used the paper clip trick on the ALDL connector plug.
Errors 22, 55?, 94? 22 is a definite, not sure about the others. Forgotten exact numbers. Disconnected battery, cleared codes? No more check engine light. A day later at 80 kmh engine light came back on. When turned off, no engine light. When doing 80 kmh, no check engine light came on. I haven't done another scan yet. Maybe if l do, l wont clear the codes? Maybe another job for the auto elec.?

I have the reverse lights & camera working, but not the neutral safety switch. (Back to the auto elec.?)

I haven't tested over 80 kmh yet. Its still on the mockup cross member.
I have booked it in at the engineers in a couple of weeks.

Not perfect, but getting there.

I'll take a break from the mechanics & electrical side of it, & start on mocking up the plastics (gear shift surround).

I'am slowly getting there.
Changed a setting in the Tcu today. It drives better than a bought one (according to some ve owners, flaring:eek:).

For the cross member just used standard vt - vy.

Auto elect. couldn't get the neutral safety switch (neutral safety switch = nss) working properly. But he got the reverse lights working.
I had noticed some casting spots on the 6l50 case, looked similar to the 4l60 case where you bolt the nss. So l thought l'd try & see how far it would be from fitting the 6l50. It would fit, but l had to modify it (l welded a bolt to a nut). The nss fits on the outside of the shift lever. The bolt holds the shift lever in place, then you simply just bolt the nss on. There is also one smaller bolt behind )where the wiring plugs into the nss. Works like it was made for it.:) I'll get a couple of pics tomorrow if l remember.

No check engine lights either yet:eek: Hopefully not? Not for a week.

Have a couple of things to workout. Progress is good now. Did l say that it drives like bought one? Kidding.

Ps Haven't done any plastics yet.

Here is some pics of the tranny setup & neutral safety switch of the 4l60 on the 6l50.
How l've set the trans coolant lines. Also how the tranny & adaptor plate looks all bolted together.

I've also included a pic of infra red thermometer. I was using this thermometer to fill the trans with dex v1.
I checked the level last weekend, but l used the TCU program for measuring temp. When the TCU program was reading 56 degrees c. the infra red thermometer was reading 32 degrees c. Previously when filling the trans l would be just starting to fill the trans (going by the infra red thermometer). I should have already finished filling by then.

The workshop manual states when filling the trans, the temp should be at 30 degrees c. Stop filling if the temp should reach 50 c or over & wait for it to cool down (this is if you haven't reached the full mark yet). 20200605_111729.jpg20200605_112901.jpg20200605_113002.jpg20200605_113326.jpg20200605_113410.jpg20200605_111437.jpg20200605_123644.jpg

Hi
A couple of new jobs, one part done with other stuff to do. Here is the centre piece with the 10" head unit. Also is the 6 speed vf shifter.

Here is a little project that is on the muck up car, that l think is coming a long quite nicely. Cutting & welding done, plus a little bit of sanding.
Lot more work to come, before it ends up on my car.
