Guys and gals,

I have a burning question regarding VZ Utes and their braking systems. My Crewman is a 2005, so it has the rear brake proportioning valve. According to the service manuals, they did away with the valve in 2006 and replaced it with an ABS module with Electronic Brake Force Distribution. But as far as I can tell, ABS modules in the Crewman never had Traction Control. If they do, the service manual does not mention it.

So my question is: Was there any 2006-07 VZ Ute that came with a live rear axle, Gen IV V8, ABS, and Traction Control? I'm thinking maybe a Thunder or HSV model Ute?

Utes had traction control as far as I know. They did not have a live axle. Last live axles on Utes were the VS which are a bit shorter.

No Crewman had traction control.

Did Utes have have an ABS module with only 3 outgoing brake lines or did they have 4 like a car?

As it happens, one of the people on my team at work has an 07 VZ Thunder, so give me 30mins or so and I can get a photo of the ABS on that for you.

Let me know if there’s anything else you want to see on a VZ Ute.

As for traction control, she has the usual pwr button and the Ass button.

I don’t know what that grot is. Eewww. You wouldn’t see that sort of schmutz on interior parts of my Crewman, but I’m still grateful she was happy to help out.

*Also just noticed she has the 5L40e gearbox which would explain why she has had to have it rebuilt twice since she has owned it.

I should point out that these are on V6’s.
