No refill oil showing on the dipstick

Righto; I put a few more litres in and now its way over full. Dont know what happened there. The level is about half inch over the top.

How do i get the excess out? Thanks

Crack the sump plug and make sure the engine/oil is cold so that you can release whatever you think will be sufficient to lower it to correct level. If you use a real clean container you should be able to re-use the oil in future services etc.

If its a car you are keeping for a while and you know you'll be doing oil changes yourself, invest in a Fumoto Valve.
You'll never go back to doing old school messy changes ever again.

google it and go check it out.
