was talking to my local guy and he said its normal he said rodeos can use upto 3l in a 7500 service, mine used about 1L in 9000k depends on how hard u rev the motor and mods would probably make it use more oil

does it have an oil leak??? V6 alloytec engines have a problem with oil leaks out of the front cover, down the driver side.

Mine was used about 500-750ml in the last 5500ks, which i thought was bad.

i use castrol edge 10w-60 oil because of the abuse my car gets and i find it uses very little to no oil.

Thats good. I would be worried if somebody who used 10w/60 in an Alloytec was using any oil. With the 60 rating, it has more body at operating temperature than a 30 or 40 grade, so I would hope that no oil would be used at all with a 60 grade on a relatively new Alloytec engine :)

So mine isn't the only one that use some oil then. I will get the compression test done and post up the results. If the compression is good then it may be the hard time i do give it that 20% of the time :p

.5L in 5-7000km is pretty well nothing, also depends on the temp of the motor and how long after running it was checked, gradient of the ground the car is on,

park the car on a flat surface, leave it over night, than check it in the morning cold, once the oil drains back, i find alloytecs seem to take a bit of time for the oil level to stabilze after it has been running,

believe it or not, but those new magic big v8 toyota diesel motors in the landcruiser are allowed 1L PER 1000KM as normal specification for oil usage

is your car manual? manual cars are a bit more allowablw with oil consumption because of the extra compression braking work they do
