Hey all,
I’ve got a vz ly7 Calais which is great for my p plates at the moment…
I’m looking at starting with drivetrain ect and then going to the engine for upgrades.
The only question I have is will it be worth it or will a ly7 with boost still get munched on by just a standard fgt?
Thanks.

I’m not sure it’ll be worth it.
It’s a deep dark money pit!

If you’re committed to keeping it to see the money back on it and have the cash to spare why not. Money pit for sure, the only cheap way in my day with the vr was a prom programmer and a sc14 charger could be done for a couple of k diy. I think the cheapest kits ive seen is from raptor https://raptorsc.com.au/holden/holden-commodore-vz-with-alloytec-3-6-kits/
Nice kit with nearly everything

I mentioned this in another thread just the other day,
Depending on the age of the motor (assuming it’s original) and the k’s it’s done, and has it been serviced correctly,
And possibly it’s a bit tired, MHO would be to get hold of another motor and rebuild it, and put you performance hardware on, but keeping mind, if you thrash it, it going to break some time, possibly something in the rest of the running gear,

Depending on the original condition of the car,
So it may very well be a money pit and will see the $s fly out the window
or
Keep it original, and see the $s fill the windows.
