Here's the thing with 02 sensors if they don't work 100% and work at 90% they don't set a Check engine light or code. You will notice fuel usage as a side effect.
You need to view the 02 pattern on a scope and see the cross counts and voltage it produces.

Hey mate how are you.
The post 02 sensor tells the ECM if the catalytic converter are working efficiently. Check engine light should come up right now with no sensors.
Are you using the factory catalytic converter or some high flow cats?
Reason i ask is because if you have high flow cats and you install the new Sensors this will still set the Check engine light on.

Hey mate just have the stock cats, and to confirm engine light came and higher fuel usage

The code will tell you exactly what the issue is. I thought the VE's actually displayed the error on the dash, as in text. If it was the post cat sensors, it would say "cat inefficient" or something.

I rang my local holden dealer and for the front two there $141 each and for the rear there $151 each :O i was expecting around the $70 mark possibly.

Why are they so much ? Are there any aftermarket brands that are just as good as the OEM o2 sensors ?

I dont know I just bought a pair of universal ones of the net for $66 you just have to wire up your plugs from the original ones to them.
