Yeah I'm the same. Watch people ride it, weigh it up, and just over think it I reckon. One of those obstacles which is probably a lot easier than it seems if you've got the momentum up, but it's mainly the bloody mental barriers!

yeah it is a lot easier then it appears as you basically just roll through it.
first times I went the other way not wanting to hit it.
then eventually ari was like, if im doing it your doing it, so I had no way out :p

biggest tip with it is. don't lock up the brakes, (same with any downhill type obstacles)
just need to roll (slowly if you want) and eventually over the rock and just keep more back on the bike.

itll just flow nicely.
and once you've done it, youll want to do it again :p

as you can see, im still not quite at the level where i can make it up the first rock berm.

drawn suggested riding directly onto the top of the rock.... there is a 12 foot vertical drop on the other side.... so obviously we didnt try that idea

This is my Malvern Star 26" hardtail I bought back in late 03 I think, to ride to school on and when I left school I rode it everywhere until I got my licence and then she got neglected to the garage and it was only a few months ago I got it back from a mate who I leant it to. (Big mistake). So far I have put new D/Wall rims, New DH Maxxis High Roller II 2.45" wide tyres on it, (only just fit), new disc brakes on the back and new chain. Hopefully before summer comes back around I'll have new front forks aswell so I can start shredding up the local mountain bike tracks again. That is unless i decide to buy a new bike lol. I'd really love a downhill bike but they cost nearly as much to buy as what my commy owes me lol.
