I tried cutting the ring on the mount flush today, I cut a V shape in the high part then about a inch and a half flat with the base long. It took about half a hour just to do that with a hack saw blade.

I think I might have to try an angle grinder tomorrow, it would take the good part of a full day to cut it with this shitty hacksaw I just bought.

I cut the mounts flush for anyone interested.

Used a cutting disc to go around the rim then used a grinding disc to get it flush then a sanding disc to smooth it out.
