Hey everyone,

Sorry for the hogging of the forum asking all these questions, I just feel like the response is so quick and everyone knows their s**t about these cars. This is gonna be one of my last as I'm getting pretty familiar with the car now. I think during COVID it's spent more time with the bonnet up and in the garage than on the road lol.

Anyway, I have this spill-proof funnel that's my parents, and I was looking at doing a coolant change on my SV6 this weekend, but I trial fitted the radiator/'coolant recovery' cap attachments and none of them fit. I feel like the rubber seal and plastic seat properly, just the thread pitch on the motor seems to be a little bit coarser than what is on the funnel's fitting so I can't tighten it down, stopping it from having an air-/water-tight seal.

Has anyone got a suggestion to get my funnel to work to raise the highest point in the system so I can bleed it properly when I'm filling the motor?
Also, are there any tips/tricks I should know before taking this job on myself? Like, do I pull the coolant reservoir off? It's gotta be pretty similar to any other car, surely...

Thanks in advance.

i had to read that wall of text 3 times, i think you need to use the bleed valve that's what it's for.

watch this terribly dark video to see how.

The bleed valve will never come close to removing the air. It does assist in filling the system a little quicker.

There can still be over a litre of air trapped in the cooling system.
The only two ways of getting them out is either vacuum filling it (need a compressor first)
Or
Bleeding the air out with the car running and having the thermostat go through multiple openings.

Have you tried silicon spray on the threads?
