2006 VE commodore
My VE commodore was put in for timing chains in march, come back and when starting (mostly cold starts) sounded like a tractor rattling and stalking. Sounded like the chains were slapping, cam phasers and another set of chains and 6k later its still stalling and rattling on a cold start, started this morning. (Only got it back from the mechanic yesterday) instantly stalled. Started about 10 minutes after it stalled. Not a sound. Not an issue. Has anyone had any problems like this? I’m at a loss and about to give up

It's the o ring on the oil pick up not sealing properly and so it causes low oil pressure issues. If you turn the car off right as it happens then turn it back on there should be enough pressure and the noise won't be there. I'm fairly sure anyway. There's a few youtube vids and threads here about it. O ring is almost always the culprit.
