Check engineering places local to you.
But something like this
Plus a full gas bottle
Plus helmet and gloves
Maybe a dedicated set of welding pliers if you want to
Some will use a welding apron. I just have many pairs of old overalls to use.

And lots more metal working tools= ultimately!!

The easiest welding is gasless , then MIG = great for ease / spot welds /replication and structural welding and cleaning up /and still keep structural integrity

For external /panels( what you see) welding= nothing beats oxy/acetylene =( can use TIG but it gives a much harder /more brittle result).
Again a hand panel forming course !!!

For external panels ( yeah even heavier 60s metal = more slab sided = less shape = harder to maintain the shape ) .
Panel forming course teach welding to suite vehicle external panels.
E.G. butt weld using NO= YES NO filler rod = ( so only either TIG =or Harder to weld oxy /acetylene)
== a small protution on the inside and a small valley on the external = then panel beat and the smallest of fills .
Lots of skill and practise/patience needed.

You will make heaps of mistakes. Thats ok, If you learn by them.Hopefully all the mistakes will be on the crap you practice on. Which doesn't matter.

Keep at it, never give up. & remember, there is always tomorrow.

And when one of the parts is completed, you can look at, & think to yourself l did that. :)

With a baby coming home, best thing to do is get some big wooden blocks and put the car on them for a few years. Then you can gather some tools and develop some skills in the hope of getting to work on the car before the kid turns 10 :p
