Its a savoury tasting spread, definitely tastes much better than Skydrol, doesn't burn your skin if you accidently get it on bare flesh, never had any in my eyes, but I'd bet its not as painful as Skydrol!

Skydrol
Regarding Vegemite. If you'd ever watched JAG on TV, you'd know. It was described in one episode as tasting like axle grease.
It doesn't, but it's difficult to describe because it is uniquely Australian. It tastes nothing like the English Marmite, if you'd ever tried that. It has a strong, salty savoury taste all its own. You can actually make it a drink by adding a dollop to hot water, which makes a soup reminiscent of the flavour of strong beef soup with a fair dose of salt added.
You probably wouldn't like it. It seems that unless you were born here and ate it from an early age, you never get used to it.
