Why does youtube recommend videos I have already watched?
Car insurance company's, words cant describe how ####ing stupid they are
This, so much this.Hey. Bright aftermarket lights and poorly aligned lights are as bad as high beams. As are foggies with aftermarket high wattage globes in them and run as driving lights.
If people are going to make these mods to their lights without considering the impact it has on oncoming traffic, then they can be forced to see my lighting mod, being HIDs in the fogs that only come on with the high beams.
If people are flashing or high beaming you, you need to either return the stock configuration, or adjust it to suit driving conditions. I drive a tanker with 40,000L of flammable liquid on the back 12 hours a day, the last thing my family wants is me being blinded by oncoming traffic with stupid lighting mods blinding me.
This is already used in one of the eastern states. Cant remember which one though. As an aside, there is a system used in the US where the on ramps have stop lights to space out the merging traffic. Works well.
(Yes, I was too slow to post. I think it can be figured out though.)
just to add to that merging bit.
main road on to the highway where I am doesn't state the new speed until you're actually on the highway.
so people try to merge at the 80kph limit onto the 110kph highway.
such a worry when you get behind those people.
then there are so many other concepts to do with merging that are extremely frustrating.
ie. leave a gap for someone to merge on into, they are infront of you, they then slow down and go same speed and same position as you.
I mean seriously, use some common sense and look/think ahead!
then when it comes to 2 lanes going into one, and all it takes is 1 person not to use some common sense/courtesy so blow out the entire flow everyone else had.
like yesterday. for those that know Melbourne, Alexandra parade going towards the zoo. (Macarthur rd/Elliot avenue after royal parade)
goes to 1 lane. generally its 1 from each lane, and if you get with a good bunch of people it flows sooo smoothly.
had this lady in a "SUV" behind me in the other lane. last second speeds up while im merging over in the 1-1 pattern and just hammers it ahead.
merging is one of the worse concepts on the road people just cannot understand, especially since its so simple :s
Not generally. There is 2 types of merging situations in Aus, which depend on the signs (and if no signs, road markings)
The road you're talking about is a zip merge every day of the week (one from each lane). If the lady in the SUV tried that on with me, she'd have ended up on the footpath.
Alot of it is also drivers leaving too big a gap. If you are close enough to the car in front (but still a safe following distance) other cars usually wont even bother trying to get ahead (and especially not if you make your intentions clear, i always move the car to right next to the white line (as opposed to the middle of the lane usually) as its about to end so people know, i'm merging where its my right of way so dont bother trying)
Most road users have never heard of the zip merge, so i was glad to see it in the SA refresher rules that went out last year (although i never got one in the mail, i just saw someone elses, so not sure which drivers got them)
I went for a drive early this morning. Sadly, I was half asleep and forgot I was low on fuel. OK, there is a warning light but hey that is always on lol... so I ran out of fuel 4km from home.
Took me about 3 minutes to get a lift home yaaaaay. No taxis in this area. Grabbed a can of fuel from the shed, went out on the highway again and thumbed. For 3 freaking hours I stood under a street light with a fuel can in my hand, and was passed by at least 500 cars before someone picked me up.
This isnt about me running out of fuel though, or that nobody would pick me up going back. People dont trust people anymore, I get that. I personally dont mind picking up a hitchhiker if he/she looks reasonably presentable, but I understand.
I have no problem with people not wanting to pick someone up. I do however have a problem with people who swerve pretending they are going to run you over. I do have a problem with people who start hammering on their horn or flipping the bird at me for no apparent reason.
And I especially have a problem with the red landcruiser ute who threw a beer bottle at me and damn near broke my arm. I will be bruised for a week. And the car is a local one, I have seen it before. And when I see him again, I am going to insert the now smashed beer bottle up his arse with a hammer.
shouldve started walking the 4ks while thumbing, probably wouldve gotten there in no time anyway, its only 4ks
