okay im a bit of a sound quality enthusiast, im thinking of buying another set of splits up front, but im not sure what it will exactly do..

does it just make it louder?
or do people cross the woofers over at different frequencys?

depends if ur 2nd set of spilts have a higher rms then the 1st set. if not then no it wont b louder, it'll actually b pointless.

If you are a sound quality enthusiast, then you would not be looking at two sets of splits, at all.
What speakers are you running at the moment, what headunit and off what amp? What are you trying to achieve by changing the system? eg. what are you unhappy with?
I compete in MEASQ sound quality competitions as does another member on the forum.

adding a 2nd set of splits will only make it louder, but it also adds a good chance of making it sound worse, it adds a whole lot more complexity to the system with minimal gain

when you mention "all the pros" doing it, you are most likely referring to demo cars, which of course are not aimed at SQ but more show and wow factor. you will find that the majority of serious SQ competitors actually run only 2 or 3way front stage, plus 1 or 2 sub, and no rear speakers

as mentioned, what is wrong with the system that you are trying to fix? what are you trying to achieve?
