Alpine didn't make that... It was sold by the people who designed it for months and then Alpine decided to take over the distribution.

If it wasn't so ugly, I'd buy one in a second.

I think alpine have done a great job with the new a/c controls

I have this interior so I reckon the Alpine setup looks ahit compared to it.

Yep, the AC controls look crap.

But here is the clincher for me. They work!!! The factory ones just played up too much (well, the whole bloody head unit anyway). I just got fed up with the multiple random failures. The Alpine unit doesnt miss a beat and the crappy looking HVAC buttons work. That will do me.

I have seen someone fit a ipad2 into a VE and have the AC controls on the ipad2.

Just to be clear, Quasi Technologies makes the kit which has the crappy looking buttons. Alpine might distribute their version with their plugs, but they don't make it.

The head unit itself is of course Alpine, and it sh1ts all over stock.

Just a shame the kit doest mirror the HVAC controls of the factory unit. It would sell like hotcakes if it did.

The iPad installs look a bit too awkward and very much appealing to thieves of the night. At least this kit looks relatively stock and you'd have to look closely to see it was different.

And I dont think there is a kit for the stato/caprice.

Don't think it's really worth it, Quasi built a really crap interface - if they fix that I'd maybe consider it.

But given I have an amp already, all I really need is a good way to tap the signal from the stock stereo and I'll be happy - if anyone has some good tips please let me know.

i heard the alpine version of that aftermarket stereo is like 2500!! if people arnt happy with the sound controls on the factory unit in a sound quality sense, I've seen those signal/sound processors you can get, like a 'x' amount band eq.... worse thing holden did was the one piece design on the head unit!

signal/sound processor? you mean like a line converter-so you can run your own speakers off your factory head unit?
I wouldnt mind getting better speakers and maybe a sub.But keeping the factory head unit.

yeah you need a hi-low converter (kicker amps have them built in) i have splits and a sub running off a 2 ch for splts and a mono block for the sub
