The capped price servicing of $185 expires at 60,000km, you then pay what you pay but you can get a quote (which is then capped)

The $185 capped price servicing doesn't apply to cars registered after a certain date. The priced is capped, but at a higher level. For example, the 30,000 km service for a 2015 SV6 (3.6l petrol) first registered after 01/07/15 is $239. The price jumps to $299 for the 75,000 km service, and $656 at 120,000 km.

There is a price calculator on the Holden website at Holden's Lifetime Capped Price Servicing - Holden.com.au .

I only paid $185 for my 30K service. The calculator is fuxored. Mine was registered before 1/7/2015 so this is the reason why I paid less.

I haven't been ripped off -- I was stating the capped price situation as it is today. I paid $185 for my 15,000 km service because my car was registered before 01/03/15. No doubt yours was too. If not, you got a bargain.

The OP was asking about servicing costs for a car he hasn't bought yet -- so his WILL be registered after that date. He can therefore expect to pay a little more.

Yes I was aware the capped price service varies with the registration date. I am under a different arrangement perhaps as I firsy registered my car on the 12th July 2013. I edited my post just as you replied. In fact I didn't pay anything for my 30K service nor will I pay anything for my next as Holden is picking up the tab. I just know this would have cost me otherwise.

The 120k includes plugs on a V6 which is why it costs a bit more. If you can't afford a $600 service you shouldn't really be dropping $35k on a new car.

The Holden dealer will know about any of those recalls where they quietly fix stuff as cars come in for servicing. I assume Holden do this, other manufacturers do. You can also get warranty repairs looked-at while doing servicing (although if they need parts to fix whatever-it-is you'll most likely need to take it back again).
Also, if resale is a thing & you'll sell privately, having the log-book dealer-stamped is worth a little bit.

But there's really not much other reason to go to the dealer. If you've got a mechanic you trust, then they'll almost definitely do a good job; if you don't know your Holden dealer, then you run a chance of not getting a great job. Our local dealer scuffed-up plastics & only partially reinstalled the things they fixed, so from now on our car's going to the aforementioned trusted mechanic (unless I need warranty work ... in which case I'll be finding a different dealer).

hi Forg
I do trust my mechanic don't know my Holden dealer. I think i will take the car to Holden for the first few years than after that take it to mine.
