City with a small cam I'm around 20l/100 but 6.0
Last long highway trip wagga to sydney was about 9.5l/100
I haven't really looked at LS3 consumption on a highway trip, but I towed a race car from SA to VIC and back in a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with the 6.4 litre Hemi and that sat around 20 litres per 100 km's towing. Great tow vehicle with strong grunt passing trucks etc!

It is good to monitor fuel consumption as it can help identify if something is about to go wrong.
I had a small performance turbo car that would increase it's fuel consumption just as the oil change was coming due  So monitoring fuel consumption was a great indicator that it was time for a service

(I kept track of it all by logging oddo kms and fuel purchase at every fill up in an excel spreadsheet and a graph made it obvious when service was due; geek i guess)

These days my daily runabout is a POS and I don't much care about this uninspiring car (though I still service it as needed). My VF garage queen is hardly driven so monitoring fuel consumption isn't something i do these days. Having said that I still keep fuel receipts where i note odo but don't put that data into excel

I've kept records for my 3 utes, always ignored the first 30,000 kms. All similar driving.
Magnum is the thirstiest, 13.6 L/100km at 92k kms.
L77 Redline, 11.7 L/100km at 112k kms.
Maloo (bolt on's and tuned for hwy use), 10.6 L/100km at 67k kms.

Me either, I've never owned an economical car!

A pet hate of mine is people modifying V8's for horsepower then winging about them "chewing the juice".

Around town my Redline ute sits around 12.6 litres per 100km's I've noticed on the dash. The SV6 is better around the mid to high 9's.

I totally agree, I've never owed anything that I'd call an economical car.

I only recently realised the Ute has one of those fuel usage trip type meters built in.

I accidently touched something on the right side stalk behind the steering wheel and changed my normal digital speedo display.

When I got home I needed to get the owner's manual out to see how to retrieve it and that's when I saw there were other things on offer other than just a steering wheel, blinker indicator, a gear shifter and some pedals.

I had my old C63 for 5 years before I was caught in the rain with it, I had to pull over to the side of the road and look behind the steering wheel to figure out which one of the 3 stalks operated the wipers, I now have them in auto mode.

I love technology, I just never bother to use it.

My wife bought a new street directory just before Christmas and I reminded her that her BMW has a trick satnav thing in it. She said, "I can't be bothered messing around with that crap". I've never used satnav either!

You can still get street directories?
I found a 2010 Melways in the workshop a couple of days ago...

As a side note, 98 octane costs approx. $0.42c per litre more on the NSW Central Coast (Peninsula) compared to the Gold Coast
How much subsidy does the Qld government provide for petrol these days?
