Next maintenance job on the list done yesterday.....removing and resealing the rear 1/4 windows. Hopefully this will help stop water getting into the boot although there is still a leak in the boot lid itself which needs attending to. More than likely the seal(s) around either the garnish or the tail light.

Anyway, some pics of what I found when I got them out.

16 years of grime..not too bad I suppose.

Cleaned up.....small bit of rust on each side.

Removed all of the rust (back to bare metal with some 120 and then 600, applied some etch primer, sanded again with 600 and a couple of coats of touch up paint to finish. Wax & grease remover between each step.

The windows themselves were generally OK except two of the screws broke of when removing them due to being rusted.

Couldn't do much about this one.

This one was so badly rusted that the metal had flaked and pushed the rubber up. I was able to scrape it out with a small screwdriver and had a spare bolt that fitted the space.

Then cleaned the windows themselves and applied Sikaflex 255 Extra+ windscreen sealent, fitted them up and now waiting for some rain to see if they're right.

Oh, and some relics of the cars previous life hiding behind / under the back seat. I'm sure we've all seen these before at some stage.

Lol....more likely to find those in VSChrisO's ride.

Last time I was tested over here (probably about 12 - 18 months ago) they were still using these.

What is this "count to 10 crap" you speak of ?

in sydney for at least the last 2 years they just hold a machine and you count to 10 and the machine can tell the amount of alcohol on your breath. makes it quick and easy. so old people etc who can no longer blow enough air for the machine to register dont have to be taken back to have a blood test.

good progress! No more water in the boot!
Make sure you didn't break the seal on the window, cause once it's sealed, it's not coming out for a while! Haha
