Hi there.

Following a lengthy period without a battery the radio which was working is no longer. There are no lights. I'm wondering if there is a security issue with starting it up. The car is running fine after a new battery.

Thanks

Peter

Check the fuses and relay under the steering column. 3 twist clips and the panel folds down.

Thanks for that. I've put a multimeter across the fuse and its fine. In addition the manual tells me that the car locks are on the same fuse and they work. I was wondering if there is a security feature that has been triggered?

You will need the 4 digit security code for the radio.
Turn on the radio - " 1" will be displayed - enter the security code - wait around 5 seconds
and the radio will turn on.
( That is provided its not an after market radio with its own security )

Hi there Its the original radio. No idea what the security code is. It belonged to my father. I've just been out to the car. It has a 1 on the screen. I have all the original paper work for the car and I've even got the original Statesman Brochure. Any clues which document might have the code. Its not in the radio instruction booklet.

It cost $48170.00 on 3rd November 1995 from Beasley and Bruce Canberra.

I got the radio code for a VS last year - the dealer didn't even ask for proof of ownership. They probably weren't too fussy about 23 year-old bunky

I keep 4 satay sticks in the glovebox and just pop the stereo out whenever I need my code. It's written on top of mine in texta. I didn't do it, but i'm bloody happy a previous owner did.
