VS SS Commodore
Hi all, please excuse me as I am new here & not real sure how all this works, but anyway here goes....

I have a 1996 VS SS I bought off one of my mates, it’s in pretty mint condition, only 112 000 kms on it.
It has sat in his garage for about 9 years & not been started, since buying it off him I’ve had the fuel tank out, hot water pressure washed it as it was in poor condition, it came pretty mint, replaced all hoses in the tank, fuel pump & filters, flushed all the lines step by step right through to the engine & back to tank, replaced the alternator & new battery. I’ve started it, had running numerous times over the past 3 months or so, I’ve got it registered, been driving it around probably 5 x times on the road & it runs & drives perfectly.

The problem is I have a starting fault, I can drive it on the road, park it the shed, go to start it a week later & won’t start, it winds over, definitely has fuel, can here pump & can smell it but it just won’t fire, the immobilisation light goes out, it has no engine lights or any lights at all, I connect my mates Snap On scan tool, it logs no faults, don’t touch anything but then after that it seems to start ?? I’ve had a search through other posts but I can’t really find any of the same faults ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you :)

If fuel is ok, then it might be HES in the dizzy - Hall Effect Sensor.
First I would try some start ya bastatd or other aerosol in the intake when cranking to see if it is a fuel problem. If there is no cough from the engine, then check for spark.

Possibly injectors leaking down, that might be why you can smell the fuel. Before you start it next time, remove a spark plug and see if it's wet.

No faults means external issue ignition module, dissy, injectors, regulator.

Means you got to physically go through it all untill find culprit.
