I've got a new auto gearbox in.

I'm running at 2600rpm at 100kmh when I read it should be about 1800rpm.

The 'Check Engine' light comes on too but the code is a gearbox code.

Is it higher because the wagon has a shorter diff ?
Is it actually still in 3rd gear ?
(What rpm would 100kmh be in 3rd).

Has the MACE tune done something silly with the new box even though it was fine with the old one?

Ideas would be great thanks.

Change the diff ratio settings in the tune to the ratio you actually have

I assume MACE use the stock diff settings

My vt in 4th at 100 kph & would be 1800 rpm with a 3.08 diff.

Whats the gearbox code? That maybe the problem

Sounds like a trans issue, as above just a touch over 1800rpm in 4th with converter lock with 3.08 diff. If converter lock isn't working than a few hundred rpm more but in your case I think it's in 3rd with no converter lock unless you've played with the diff ratio.

Have you changed the diff ratio?

MACE tune should be for what ever you specified. For the V6's the tune isn't effected by the diff ratio change other than gear changes will happen at different speeds and the dash will read wrong but you need to alter the dash to fix that.

4.11 gears will show about 2450rpm at 100km/h (with standard size wheels).

It's the stock diff.
Whatever that is.

Was wondering if wagons have a shorter diff than sedans stock, thus giving a higher rpm.

Can't recall exactly what the code was. Think it was something to do with 'shifting' which would make sense cos it comes on after it's NOT shifted to 4th.

Does it give into 4th at all? Could be the linkage or the box has issues.

Stock Diff.

Yeah I think it's still in 3rd. I can feel 'something' at the shift point but I don't think it actually changes.

The new Box has been pulled apart and checked again.

Workshop says the Scan shows it is changing. Very ******* annoying when it took me one drive and a look at the tacho to work out it wasn't!

What's the fix?

Doesn't seem to go into 4th at all.

The box is new and it's been pulled apart and checked again.

Lingage is outside the box and if it's not positioned right it may be in 3 not D.

Can you drag the shifter to 1,2,3 ok?
