Thanbks for letting us know.
Looking back over the thread, the evidence was there.
I suppose you wouldn't like to tell us who the specialist was? (or whether the mechanic who referred the gearbox back to them, actually did?)
There's heaps of 4L60E's out there. Shouldn't be hard to get right - and at least know what is wrong with it from the customer's ndiagnosis.

Glad to see it's all sorted anyway.
Auto Drive Transmissions, with 4.4 stars from Google reviews.

There's numerous points of 'discussion' that relate to each workshop, but what it comes down to is that it took me peeling myself off my sickbed and going out to a 100kmh piece of road to notice within a few seconds that something wasn't right with the RPM. (Plus it was throwing a trans related code with the warning light). That's not good enough, but I'm not going to get anything out of kicking the details around with them now.

As you say, it's extraordinary that it would take this much screwing about to get a common 20 year old Commo to work.

So far I'm happy it's done and I can keep my Holden for a bit longer, but I'll be really convinced when I get it back physically and can go for a run some time.

Not wishing to drag the pain out any longer, but why was the trans replaced? Self-interest here with 352,000 k's on mine.

Yeah, it wore out at about 320K. Stopped selecting gears properly. I've seen others online a few times wear out at about 300k so you're doing well.

Car goes really well otherwise.
