VX II Acclaim Wagon.
A tune doesn't change how fast you go at a certain rpm/gear, it can only change what gear you are in. Speed is dictated by rpm and gear ratio's.
Hey mate , Riddle me this.

Went for a drive and manually shifted it down from from Drive 4th to 3rd and it did change down, which means it was in 4th.

Couldn't the tune pick up the engine revs in top gear?

On the V6 model the PCM does not modify the speed signal from the transmission VSS, it passes through the PCM to the dash. The dash is encoded to determine the speed based on the pulses from the VSS, the PCM is just using the VSS signal to determine road speed so it knows when to change gears.

If you are doing 2600rpm/100km/h in 4th something doesn't add up. Even with 4.11 gears you'd only see about 2400rpm@100k/h

I just went for a run in a 90 KPH zone with my VY wagon and revs were 1600 RPM, or there abouts.

It is a V6 with 225/50X16 tyres....Haven't checked the diff gearing...

Didn't get upto the 100 KPH or 110 KPH to check the RPM at that speed for a reference point

Hope it helps a bit

Maybe the "tune" included changing the ppk setting?
And/or the tuner got it wrong?

Thanks. At that rate 1800rpm would give you 100kmh as expected.

I'm running 225/55/16 so very close

Agreed. engine 'feels' like it's at that rpm too. Almost like the overdrive is missing and it's running 1:1 gearing. How hard would it be to do that to a 'box?

What's PPK?

It's a MACE tune that's 10 years old. They haven't got back to me when I sent a msg from their website.

1:1 is 3rd gear in a 4l60e.
