The catalytic converter also creates water as part of its conversion process. It converts hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen and carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide, nitrogen, water and heat.

True story.

My old LS1 just spewed out steam all day every day at idle and very low RPMs but I never lost any coolant. It wasn't oil for sure. Although the engine drank oil... cos VT LS1

Have a look next time and see if that "white stuff", disappears like steam out of a kettle, or dissipates slowly away like smoke does.
If it is steam as suggested, it will disappear quite quickly, but smoke will drift over a larger area.

Hi,

This maybe way off but check your brake fluid. Once I had a power booster leak that sucked brake fluid into the manifold under high vacuum (idle). Created massive white clouds when I hit the brakes hard.

Otherwise, I would have said that it was condensation (when cold only) or a water leak into the manifold.

Good luck!

Seriously.... the amount of **** that has to happen for that to ever actually happen is just ridiculous. Did you have any brakes what so ever when it happened? (amongst a multitude of other issues)

Today when I left work I decided to let it warm up, 5 minutes or so.

Walked into the Car park and was greeted by a massive cloud of white, must be smoke as it took some time to disappear.
