Chasing a problem on the speed sensor on the LandCruiser. Speedo keeps jumping even when stationary, got a new sensor but they didn't fix it.

Anyway. When I was under there changing it over I noticed the retaining clip and bolt was gone. Thread was borked too.

So repaired the thread and installed a new bolt and used the tail end of a socket rail to make a new retaining clip. It's ghetto. But it works.

do??? ... yesterday actually
noticed a few weeks ago (when doing an inspection of the heater hoses etc under the cover) that the original rocker cover gaskets
had started oil misting the cylinder head areas around them, so yeah time to replace them (original ones with new ones and the centre bolt seals )

About a hour to do both sides.. and what I found curious was the INSIDE of the alloy rocker covers .. both of them were
really clean, oily yes as expected but no crusty or sludgy collections (impressed for a near 90k LS3)

Frequent oil changes with good oil no doubt. Ripper!

Are those the stock valve springs for a LS3?

Thought those blue ones were stock LS6 springs.

Looks good inside

I suspect your oil change intervals are on the shorter side but can you confirm change interval and oil used?

That may help others who aren’t yet convinced that shorter intervals are better for the engine to be converted and to realise what works

Dug up a big hole & trench to fit another stormwater drain pit.

It's car related because it's to stop garage from getting flooded so cars stay dry & dusty lol

.... it came with what HSV advertise that it had (on the oil filler cap)
and every 5,000 I throw in the Penrite equivalent to 5W-30 HPR5
then it goes back to the HSV dealer for a check over, safety check etc
and another sumpful of Mobil1 at the next 15k service
Remembering this is my daily drive, 5,000km oil changes are not over the top
(nor are my 15,000km gearbox and diff oil changes too)
