more guns on the streets the more loonies that are armed and able to go on rampages, look at how many school shootings there are as a classic example

you only hear about the occasional so called "massacre" in the media. You don't hear about the many many more times something is PREVENTED due to an armed citizen.

A truck is a massive target.

Yep, sure is. But the driver isn't and hitting him while he's in the cab of a truck travelling at even 50kmh isn't easy. Put ol' Jim-Bob and his mates in the crowd with their hand guns and see what happens when the adrenalin's flowing and the trucks heading their way.

I did mention "uncontrolled civilians" earlier. I reckon bullets would be flying in every direction. Collateral damage? Yeah, just a bit.

I'm sure it has happened every now and then but it can't be too often. Otherwise FOX news and/or the NRA would be all over it like a fly on ****.

Islam and Australia are incompatible. Left wingers keep living in a fairy tale world where this crap doesn't keep happening in Europe. We will be next if we keep taking them in out of the goodness of our hearts:

Wouldn't the pro-gun fans be shouting it from the rooftops if a licenced gun owner stopped a massacre before it happened? I'd like to know how many have been stopped before they happen, because I haven't heard of any, and the mass shootings are still happening

And yet with the amount of legally owned handguns in the US, shooting deaths are still a daily occurrence, with multiple deaths in each instance becoming more and more common.

The argument about whether the right to "bear arms" increases or decreases the likelihood of shooting deaths is one that will never really end, there will always be support for and against. IMO, its too late to try and change the mindset of gun owners, but something definitely has to be done about the ease in which you can get a gun. Anyone who is a legitimate gun enthusiast should be happy to do whatever is required to own guns, be it background checks, licencing, storage requirements etc.

The criminal element will still circumvent whatever laws are in place if they want to obtain a gun, regardless of what's currently in place of any future changes, but it's way to easy for anyone to simply walk into the local Walmart and pick up a gun along with some bread and milk

And almost ALL shooting deaths are with an ILLEGAL gun. ILLEGAL guns are ALWAYS available regardless of laws. It's not rocket science.

Here's just a few... 12 Times Mass Shootings Were Stopped by Good Guys With Guns

Guns save more lives than they take.

And all 12 would have been prevented, opposed to stopped, with stricter gun laws in the first place.

True. Though not hard to make a Legal gun Illegal through serial scratching etc. All more likely in a country where there are millions of guns.
