And yet with the amount of legally owned handguns in the US, shooting deaths are still a daily occurrence, with multiple deaths in each instance becoming more and more common.
The argument about whether the right to "bear arms" increases or decreases the likelihood of shooting deaths is one that will never really end, there will always be support for and against. IMO, its too late to try and change the mindset of gun owners, but something definitely has to be done about the ease in which you can get a gun. Anyone who is a legitimate gun enthusiast should be happy to do whatever is required to own guns, be it background checks, licencing, storage requirements etc.
The criminal element will still circumvent whatever laws are in place if they want to obtain a gun, regardless of what's currently in place of any future changes, but it's way to easy for anyone to simply walk into the local Walmart and pick up a gun along with some bread and milk
