^ Dealer Principal gets to buy a W1 as a tax deduction, gets somewhere to keep it for free, and even has an “everyone has a price” value he or she will sell it for?

Just saw on page 22 of latest Wheels that the last Falcon sale was 2 years on.
Supposedly, an XR8 Sprint was discovered after a dealership was sold. Presumably the former dealer was asking too much and the thing went into mothballs.

Jeepers dealers! Let them go - they are 2 years old now, no longer new.
I would love one at a proper price, not $60k driveaway.
Is the current range just so boring there are no punters in showrooms to buy them?

there is a new red motorsport sitting on a showroom floor of a dealer here and I asked the boss if he is going to sell it and he said no it is going to stay right where it is for an undetermined amount of time so I cant see the "last one" selling any time soon.

I would think there simply wouldn't be that many people, who didn't buy one 2-3 years ago, that would also be willing to pay full retail for a 2yo car.

Probably true. I wouldn't. And there's no good reason to step into a showroom and get ignored by sales staff. Which helps to explain Holden's problems.

What gets me about these cars is that, unless the dealer has purchased them outright, they would be costing a fair bit on a floor plan. Maybe they hope that the eventual selling price will cover the full cost plus finance charges, plus profit? I agree though that it's hard to believe anybody would be willing to pay an inflated price for a model that is now abundant in used car yards with low mileage, still under warranty, for about two thirds of the price.

Floor plan funding doesn't last this long....6 months, maybe a bit more but nowhere near ~2 years.

OK, so they have to have paid it out. Thanks for clearing that up. The only reasons it remains are either 1. Dealer greed or 2. Public disinterest.

It’s really as simple as that.
