Given that there are still plenty of new VF Commodores for sale on car yards it's still very possible that the real Commodore can out sell the swinger in the next couple of months.....
Last years model that even scare tactic "get them before they're gone forever" sales pitch couldnt move?

Yep, them be the ones. They might not sell fast but they will sell eventually. It's completely normal for the runout model to sell next to the new model on yards, it's not like Holden will scrap them now because there is a new model in town, they might get a bit cheaper though with time.

Major difference is the Kia Stinger is meeting/exceeding sales and supply expectations while the Commodore has faltered and nose-dived in its sales figures which isnt a result of lack of availability. And the attitude that they'll "sell when they sell" is a cop out. If people wanted them, they'd be gone.

99% of buyers that were specifically looking to buy the last commdore would have bought one last year. Will just be the opportunistic buyers that purchase the very last of the commodores.

The stinger might have alot of interest but some people will be hesitant with it being the very first model.. would expect alot to wait till all the bugs have been ironed out.

Well that is kinda expected seeing as production has ended but I have no doubt the remaining stocks of real Commodores will sell. The longer they sit the cheaper they will get so someone looking for a bargain might just get one.

Yeah I'm at Lane Cove - think the only 2 VFs in the suburb are my neighbor and me. Good to be in something special!!! Downside is no local specialists for service.

I saw a stinger on the road nearby the other day. Looks OK. Biggest issue for me would be cleaning up all the vomit in the back seat because kids have no hope of seeing out the stupid upwards swept rear door windows.

don't forget me, Is yours red????? by any chance

Googling for sales numbers ... KIA were aiming at 2000 per month for Stinger, which is around the volume of Commodores for the last couple of years.
The only actual numbers I can find are that they sold 200 in the first partial-month of sales; but given it was a 2-month wait for a car, they took more deposits than that.

A few comments:
(*) if they'd fixed the supply issue and were doing as many sales as Commodores, I'd have expected to see more than I have (I've seen a few near work - but I work on the same street as Hyundai Oz HQ and pretty-much in between the Hyundai & KIA HQ's).
(*) on the other hand that only means 6,000 Stingers on the road among the 18,000,000 vehicles - and probably some concentration into "early adopter" socio-economic areas, so how often would we expect to see one?
(*) expecting to sell as many as ALL Commodores is IMHO a joke, given the customer-base Holden had built up. Yes Kiyundai are making good cars, but they have no prior presence in this market-segment and there are also still car-buyers who don't buy Hyundai's because they think they're low-quality due to being made in Japan.
(*) even more so, given that Stinger vs VF2 RRP's are similar at similar levels in the model-ranges, the fact that KIA currently aren't knocking the ~$5k off RRP that Holden were doing is going to make that 2000/mo even less likely.

So was it the salesperson who told you about the thousands of deposits ala Pusstang or did you read it in a press release / car news?

No it was the acquaintance who wanted to buy one & had to wait until ... about now actually, I'll have to ping him over the weekend & see if he got it (or if he test-drove the SSVR like I told him he should DESPITE it only being a Commodore ... 'cos he might have bought the SSVR if he did that :)).

People who actually bought your Pusstang also had to wait 6+ months.
Same with Toyobaru upon release.

Forg, where abouts did you find the number of 2000 units/month? This link from October when they had their first half month of sales agrees with the 200 unit figure but their COO said this:

“We’re still constrained by supply. My view is that we’ll bounce around the 200-250 mark for probably the first 18 months of its lifecycle. After that, I think we’ll build to 400-500 a month, over that period of time. But it’s supply-driven at the moment,” Meredith said.
