Well that is kinda expected seeing as production has ended but I have no doubt the remaining stocks of real Commodores will sell. The longer they sit the cheaper they will get so someone looking for a bargain might just get one.
Googling for sales numbers ... KIA were aiming at 2000 per month for Stinger, which is around the volume of Commodores for the last couple of years.
The only actual numbers I can find are that they sold 200 in the first partial-month of sales; but given it was a 2-month wait for a car, they took more deposits than that.
A few comments:
(*) if they'd fixed the supply issue and were doing as many sales as Commodores, I'd have expected to see more than I have (I've seen a few near work - but I work on the same street as Hyundai Oz HQ and pretty-much in between the Hyundai & KIA HQ's).
(*) on the other hand that only means 6,000 Stingers on the road among the 18,000,000 vehicles - and probably some concentration into "early adopter" socio-economic areas, so how often would we expect to see one?
(*) expecting to sell as many as ALL Commodores is IMHO a joke, given the customer-base Holden had built up. Yes Kiyundai are making good cars, but they have no prior presence in this market-segment and there are also
still car-buyers who don't buy Hyundai's because they think they're low-quality due to being made in Japan.
(*) even more so, given that Stinger vs VF2 RRP's are similar at similar levels in the model-ranges, the fact that KIA currently aren't knocking the ~$5k off RRP that Holden were doing is going to make that 2000/mo even less likely.
