    VK Calais 5.0 advice needed

I thought the VK's had the Engine number on the compliance plate, I will have a look hopefully on the weekend if I remember.Other than that, I imagine a vehicle history check could possibly prove that it's the original engine, I know my bike did when I bought it but it's 10 years younger. I...

    VK Calais 5.0 advice needed

Interesting dilemma. I bought a VK Berlina last year and am constantly asking myself do I keep it stock, or customise it. With my car, I was informed when I bought it the numbers match, if this is the case, I will eventually freshen the motor up. As I understand it your Engine isn't the...

    battery to boot whats involved

Interesting thread - something I'm interested in doing. Think I'm with you v8commie, would rather run it underneath the car in some good quality conduit. From memory, there is more room to work on the passenger side as all the brake and fuel lines run down the drivers side. The VE battery...

What was the better series ???

My flat mate has a WH Stato (5.7) and as comfy as it is, and nice to drive, I have always loved the VT SS. I hated the tail light boot garnish in the VX. Build quality of the commodores has improved over the years. For me, the VZ Clubsport is one of the nicest looking cars every made, followed...

    6.0l LS2 into VK?

IMO, it's all about what you are after and your budget. I bought mine as an investment for the future. Aussie Muscle car's are increasing in value, and the VB-VL Commodore is next in line. The prices of Torana's had gone nuts but is somewhat stable now at bloody expensive. I plan to keep mine...

    VE check oil light

I recently got the wifey's VE SS put on LPG, and got a check oil caution on the dash display (didn't see if the inication light came on though). Luck happens the plug at the top rear of the engine wasn't quite seated properly. The guys where I had the conversion done said they had a problem...

Audio advice on 07 VE Omega

I thought rather than starting a new thread I would add to this one. Apologies if I am repeating something that's elsewhere, but I couldn't find the answers I was after anywhere else. I would like to upgrade the head unit on my partners Series 1 VE SS, and was wondering if anyone made an...

WL Statesman headunit replacement - good, factory-looking double din?

Hi, A friend of mine just got a Digoptions replacement head unit for her WH Stato, I'm about to put it in on the weekend. It cost around $480 shipped including postage from Melbourne. It came with a reverse camera and steering wheel interface. The reviews on various other forums are good, and...

    6.0l LS2 into VK?

While I think Big Al's comment about the VK being a heap of **** is harsh, I have to agree with his statement about the rest of the car not being to handle it. It would become a massive money pit with no end of headaches. I believe the best conversion would be an EFI 355 Stroker, sure you can...

Commodore VZ vs VY engine debate?

I have had both in the past, a VY and VZ crewman. In my opinion, the Ecotec is much better than the Alloytec. The Ecotec produces better low down power, is cheaper to maintain, and cheaper to replace (should you need to). Figures on paper mean nothing. Unfortunately I was t-boned and my VY...

What's this switch? (under steering wheel)

Could be a few things it is (or was) for. Most likely is an immobiliser , a fog/driving/spot light isolation switch, or an air horn change over switch . Definitely aftermarket though

    VK Oil Catch Can

Thanks, VR38, was hoping that was the case. I might look into a carbie kit then get it tuned. She only blows blue smoke on start a tiny bit after a week a little bit more after a fortnight of sitting in the shed not being driven, so I figure valve stems (it was also sitting in a car yard for...

    253 / 304 / 308 Facts, figures and interchangable bits.

Apologies, my VK is running (original) factory 304 from what we can tell, there are some discrepancies I have read about what identifies the donk as a 304 from a 308.

    VK Oil Catch Can

The odd thing with the residue from the exhaust, is it is not constant. It is most obvious when the car is first started. I dunno whether or not to call is oil or soot? The thing is it washes off the carport floor easy enough, so maybe it's condensation mixing with exhaust deposit's. When I...

    which brakes to choose?

I have put adb (adbbrakes.com)drilled and slotted rotors on an AU XR8 ute and a VY sedan. Braking was much improved and the brake pads the rotors came with performed well too with minimal noise. I don't do track days or anything like that, but the drilled and slotted brakes perform very well...

    253 / 304 / 308 Facts, figures and interchangable bits.

Hi again, I started this thread as I would like to know what bits are interchangeable between the 253/304/308 engines. Main reason is I would like to dress the motor up - do 253/308 sumps and rocker covers fit the 304? If I find a 253 manifold (for example) of fleabay, will it fit the...

VK Heater / Aircon / Vacuum Line Questions

Thanks drewVHSS, I got a universal 2 way tap that's cable operated...just couldn't see a cable on the firewall anywhere. Might have to have a look behind the heater control unit. Goodie.

    VK Oil Catch Can

Hi again. I noticed that on occasion my VK spits a little oil out the exhaust, usually on start til it's idling cleanly or after long runs on the highway at constant speed. On occasion it blows a little blue smoke, but it takes at least a week to do this and I figure it's probably 28 year old...

VK Heater / Aircon / Vacuum Line Questions

Hi, I can't seem to find a heater tap for my VK on ebay. I was wondering if someone could get me a part number or a picture so I can try to find a universal. Currently someone has done a hell dodgey and fitted a plumbing tap so the heat is either on or off. I figure the heater tap is...

    VE SS hotdog rear tailpipes

I also fitted J pipes to the girlies SS. It makes it louder, but a pleasant level. Burbles nice on deceleration too. If anything it can get a little loud under load in 6th gear, but a budget mod really (I got mine done at Carline Raymond Terrace NSW). The guy at Carline said that he wished he...

    Liquid Injection on SS V8

Hi, I got my LLi conversion done by The Gas Man at Seven Hills. The gas consumption is pretty close to fuel. I'm getting around 425km out of the 56 usable litres (I have only put about 4 tanks in it so far all about the same) so around 13l/100. On Fuel I was getting around 550 out of a tank...

    Liquid Injection on SS V8

Allot of people are researching LPG so I would like to add to this post. I have just installed an Orbital Liquid LPG system to my fiancée's 2009 VE SS. Why? Now we have a family car that looks good, sounds good, has loads of power, is fun to drive and now is fuel efficient. With fuel prices...

    Advice - VE gas wagon

I think it's a great buy, but think about where you may travel first. LPG is not available everywhere, which is why Dual Fuel could be a better option. LPG is good though, as long as it has been done properly.
