Just an update so before I got the chance to get codes checked the issues stoped and never come back but if it does will report back with a fix.

Have not had a proper look at it as of yet but when I can I am going to, thanks you for the suggestion, as I said earlier I don't expect an exact answer obviously cause it's in possible only reason I was asking is just until I wait to get a scan tool to check codes get some places to check...

Fluids perfect only about 2000km old looks and smells fine

Although thinking back it did start showing odd symptoms before doing mounts but I just put it down to engine mounts

No it wasn't drove it about 1000km after the service but engine mounts started getting worse then car sat for 3 weeks did mounts then drove it for about an hour before started playing up

Forgot to mention box just been serviced and shifts beautifully besides this issue

So I took off the alternator today and found fortunately there is just the one plug but the regulator is actually inbuilt which is something I have never seen on an ecotec v6 alternator but nevertheless it plugs in the same Thank you immortality for your help

Hi thank you for the reply- well have inspected both and they look the same but the plug looks to be in a slightly different position and there does appear to be two plugs so will have to take it apart to have a look Dad has a VY and it's alternator looks more like the one in the VS so will...

If anyone knows if vs alternator would fit into a vt please let me know

Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but do have a couple of questions So got a VS ecotec ute which had noisy alternator bearings and due to its age rather then replace just the bearings I got a new alternator for it Now also have a VT ecotec wagon bush basher and its now got alternator...

In my opinion that sounds like it might be alternator- was it just rpm or all gauges? But may not be the issue Would get it tested although if a new battery was put in and it still didn't start then possibley something else then

Hey thank you guys, yeah we will look into it further however after playing around with the breather hose yesterday it seems to have fixed the issue might have been a loose connection but will update.

Hello everyone, now I know this is a old thread but do have a question, I am currently driving a VS ute around and it has got a very strong smell of petrol on the cabin but not all the time me and dad checked the hoses under the plate in the tray and all the hoses and connections looked fine...

Could be voltage regulator, try putting a multimeter on the battery and see what the reading is when those lights come on should be around the 14 volt mark or if you haven't got multimeter press the mode and set button while starting the car it shows you all the extra features like battery...

Yeah with new and old thermostat when idling with air-conditioning off it goes to just over half way and fans come on and goes back down

Hey everyone, just a question that has been asked before im sure found a few threads like it but slightly different so we have a 98 VS S pac ute v6 ecotec and the temp gauge sits just under a quarter is this normal we have a VY and a VT which both sit just under half way car has new thermostat...

But not 100% sure

Hi everyone, were going to look at a wreckers but if that fails would anybody know of a website that would have them? Had a look and can't really find any for the rear of a wagon online, I am pretty sure the sedan ones are different? Going to get ones for a wagon but just curious, thank you.

Thats true I can't comment about them really because I have no personal experience its just what I have read that suggests their reliability issues. Edit: same with Daewoo's can't comment on them either some people are happy with them some aren't.

But having said that I know people with both and weren't so bad but yeah there's plenty of bad reviews on them.

We have a vt which is mine and dads vy both great cars but as said previously some of the newer Holdens weren't so great.

I'm 16 and very interested in commodores but from my experience only a few kids my age I know like them, sad really.
