15-17 year old Holden V8 Utes - Future Value

I did some cals. If I get a fifty SS under 100,000km its going to cost me about $11k-$12k. Over 10 years, another $10k to keep it on the road. So about $20k-$22k over ten years. The car would need to gain $10k over 10 years. Not seeing it....

15-17 year old Holden V8 Utes - Future Value

I'm seriously contemplating to look out for a original well maintained V8 Holden or HSV ute. Budget $5000-$10,000. Something I'll store away and drive weekends if at that. There has been a lot of talk because of Holden discontinuing their Australian manufacturing that old Aussie muscle will be...

    Considering a future classic

Problem with the upper spec SS or HSV's is that the leather seats are always in very worn condition. How easy is it to get that fixed to a collectors standard? Problem with also is the mods. Lowered, extractors, exhausts etc.

    Considering a future classic

I'm considering buying either a VT 5.0 SS Sedan or a VY 5.7 SS ute. Something I can keep, drive on rare occasions and hope to hold or increase its value over a decade or two to come. Ute would be my preference but I'd go whichever the future value is better. Budget about $7500. The ones in my...

    Replacing SS Ute Seats (VX)

My brother has a VX ute. The drivers seat is in horrible condition and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if standard VX commodore seats will fit? The seats are colour coded to the car. So maybe I need to replace both as I guess it will be hard finding an orange seat. I wasnt to start...

Aldi to sell beer for $1

One of the reasons we have alcohol regulations is because of the abuse. How many read this and thought its a cheap way to get drunk? Also, we in Australia are bad angry drinkers. Our culture really needs to change. Alcohol in Europe (not so much in the UK) is more of a social drink rather than a...

    Do country roads slope left???

I got a camber bit installed by Mercedes (maybe you missed that post :-)). Drives fine now. Only pulls left when the road is actually sloping. Much better ride and worth the $360.

    Audi, BMW or Mercedes?

Agree, good value for price. Yet as a lease, it had to be a certain age. Plus I wanted something newer than an early 2000. The one I chose is a 2006.

    Goodbye Holden, sold my Holden...

Sure did, signed the paperwork and all. But the dealer did some unprofessional things so I walked out. They didnt agree to the deal we shook hands on. Bit waist of time. (was not an official Lexus dealership). But I must admin, I like the Benz better. Must be my German heritage.

    Do country roads slope left???

My C Class Merc wasn't much fun to drive in the country, hence my starting this thread. It's got the AMG kit which includes sports suspension (not an actual AMG, that would be nice). It was pulling quite hard on some roads. There were a few non-highway country roads that had good asphalt and...

    Do country roads slope left???

Ok. I very rarely drive on country trips. I did yesterday drive 200km inland. I found that my car was pulling left a lot of the way. So when it was very safe, I drove the car on the right hand side (only when I could see about 2pm ahead and no corners or hills and only for a few secs, like when...

    Top Gear Australia Filming

Agreed. I wouldn't go unless there was something in it for me, and watching top gear live does not qualify. Maybe if they let me be the '[non]star in their car' or let me test drive some of their cars whilst there.

    Goodbye Holden, sold my Holden...

Thanks for the kind words. And the W203 C Class was assembled in South Africa of all places, BMW does the same with E90 3 Series. The current C-Class is direct from Germany, and the quality is improved. If anyones looking for a w203 C class (like mine), I strongly recommend purchasing after...

    Goodbye Holden, sold my Holden...

That's always the problem with German cars in Australia. So many 4 cyl. Audi/Merc/BMWs that the fast 6 cyl models cost a fortune. However I did drive the 4 cly BMW petrol and the Merc Kompressor has better acceleration. The BMW diesel was a quick car, quicker then my Merc but the price was also...

I know where you are coming from. Personally, I've always wanted a car with a German make. I was going to buy a BMW but I got such a good deal on this Merc, I couldnt pass it up. I'm originally from the home of Benz, Stuttgart, so I've always had a soft spot for Mercedes-Benz. /posted via...

If your into fast driving, it's not the car for you certainly. However my Merc does have the sports upgrades which includes the suspension. Well, its been a great 2 years yet I let the WK Caprice go this week. I got an ok price for it and it was time for her go to the next owner. I'll kind of miss the caprice's comfort and nice V8. I just leased this; I went for the previous shape. Cashflow wise I could have leased the entry...

Car dealer are very agitating. Tried to raise the price during negotiations.

I actually had to go back to the dealer. They forgot to give me back my drivers license and I forgot to pick take it. I made a complain with the dealer in the way the situation was handled. I spoke to the user-car manager who, in my option, was just as surprised with the way his staff and his...

Car dealer are very agitating. Tried to raise the price during negotiations.

I did my research, for the options and value of the vehicle, it is a really good price. My fathers friend who owns the most prestigious dealership in WA gave it a look over, spoke to wholesales confirmed. But I am sticking to my $17,000 trade in. I'm not letting the caprice go for under $17,000...

Car dealer are very agitating. Tried to raise the price during negotiations.

Already done and I feel good about it. I'd pay sticker price for the car if I didn't have to get rid of mine. But for my own personal reasons, I can't keep both cars at the same time. If someone came and bought my caprice today for $17000 (which is a good price) I'd call the dealer and pay...

oh yeh. Done that already and feel good about it. I'd have paid sticker price for their car but they tried to screw me on the trade in. It's an insult for them to give me an offer, reject mine and then come back a 3rd time and offer me LESS their initial offer. Idiots. /posted via mobile device\

Has anyone ever had his craziness; The used car manager took my car for 24 hours to get a trade in value. Let's say $x. Then we negotiate. Goat Leather

Was at a dealer trying but failing, to negotiate a trade in on my WK caprice. One of the tactics he used to make the caprice seam cheap was telling me the caprice (not statesman) has leather made of goat. Just from a curiosity standpoint, any merit to this? /posted via mobile device\
