thanks - where abouts are you situated might try your dealer? I tried Eagers Holden Brisbane this morning, must say have always had good help from them but today the bloke couldn't care less as also asked about other items eg plenum cover over wiper motor and was told "Don't have it in stock" -...

    nolathane or boge?

Hi guys, changing my front struts and have bought a set of nolathane strut mounts but upon doing some research found these will be as hard as a rock for city driving. so now bought a set of boge strut mounts instead. Need some advice on what is better suited for city driving - also have a right...

    shudder on take off only

Thanks nathanwright, I'd read somewhere a while ago that it could be rear upper control arms - you replaced the uppers or lowers?

    shudder on take off only

Thanks Hako, very informative as usual. I wasn't aware of the europe connection.

    shudder on take off only

definitely from the rear - has new shocks and springs, new panhard bushes. Could possibly be the centre bearing but I thought it would do it constantly even at highway speed if it was the centre bearing, but it doesn't.

    shudder on take off only

Hi guys, any ideas on a shudder on take off - V6 auto standard BT1. I don't take off hard from a stop but the easier I take off the less the shudder but doesn't do it through the gear changes. Could it be worn upper control arms? just guessing here as it is not constant, only on take off...

Speedo light in BT1 instrument cluster

The extra light that sits on top of the cluster not in the cluster and shines through the oval cutout in the top of the cluster.

Speedo light in BT1 instrument cluster

Mystery solved - engine has to be running for the light to come on, not just the ignition on. Thanks for the input guys.

Speedo light in BT1 instrument cluster

Speedo light in BT1 instrument cluster

Hi all, anyone got any ideas on why the light that sits on top of instrument cluster in my BT1 is dead. Have replaced the globe with a new one and also tried another new globe again in case it was faulty. Have cleaned the terminals on the back of the cluster where pos and neg wires bolt up but...

    rotor machining

Hi, you'll find the rotor is rusted to the sealed wheel bearing housing - you need to bash the living hell out of it if it is.

huh? speedo o-ring leaks green coolant?
  24. M

    Hissing from steering

yes, it is probably coming from the rear of the temperature, fan speed panel panel - there are threads on here about removing it. If you hear it inside the cabin, it will be inside the cabin.

    Hissing from steering

It is the vacuum valve for your heater tap inside the engine bay - check the connections are actually connected, they just slip on. My vr has two on the black valve - one vacuum in and one vacuum out.

    Vs commodore nightmare

Is your speedo graduated in 5 or 2 km increments? If it is in 2km increments it is an ex police unit and has a globe above the actual cluster - look above the speedo and you will see an oval hole. The cluster needs to be removed either way. The odometer is a cheap $7.50 fix for the gear if you...

    Engine has a miss.

Brett, a quick question - did yours also idle high at times for a few seconds also wther hot or cold, mines a random high idle and was wondering if this could also be because of the purge solenoid? thanks

vr v6 code 36 vacuum leak

have you checked the vacuum hose to the heater tap? The end of mine perished and I presume it was due to heat from the tap - cut half an inch off the end and re-fitted and all good.

    Gilmer Belts lol?

lol brett - cheaper than a new belt - NOT. seriously if u want the sound of a s/c then buy one but make sure your engine is not too worn to handle it. On the other side, don't try to make your car something it isn't ie. race car. New belt and pulleys sound fabulous but be honest. My opinion only...

Where to look for leaks on power steer?

totally agree with kingo, put a towel, paper etc under front of vehicle first to eliminate the obvious but from experience it will be the block back as above also look for drips on tie rod end shafts amazing what the rubber boots hold in their ridges

    error codes reported

and if it does kick your mechanic up the ar*e and if it doesn't ask him what they check at servicing besides the usual, as this in built diagnostics makes fault finding fairly straight forward.

    platinum spark plugs

No. no other problems, just doing a plug change. It's a reco'd engine with less than 10,000 km's on it but I haven't touched anything since it was reco'd 6 years ago so decided to do a bit of maintenance.
