H Guys, So i’m wanting to convert my vy ls1 auto berlina to a manual, I have a vx ss sitting around with all the parts in good knick - just wondering what the easiest option would be to do the conversion if I just take the transmission and loom from the VX or if I take the whole lot? Not sure...

So turns out someone had just put **** oil in the diff, I changed it out with the GM recommended castrol stuff with the additive in it and problem is gone. The stuff I pulled out was blue.

Had a look to find that the donuts and centre bearing are fine, any other ideas? I can spin the tailshaft backwards and forwards to make the clunk sound. Cheers.

Well nearly two years from my last post, all I can say is that i'm still extremely happy with the ovations. Still have the same set. They go well in wet conditions as well. Cheers.

No, it will do it regardless of steering position I believe. I read somewhere it could possibly be a loose gearbox mount bolt? Would it be worth getting under and checking that out? Cheers.

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone knows - my t56 has started to shudder at low speeds, ie idling around carparks etc when I depress the clutch and disengage gears, or rolling around in neutral. It's a pretty bad shudder. It still drives perfect, finds gears fine etc. Done 140,000kms...

Also it might be worth noting that the AFM in the auto does not mean it gets better fuel economy than the manual. Both are rated at an average of 11.8. In the VE's the fuel economy of an AUTO AFM was actually worse than the manual without it. My two cents.

You can just ignore them mate, the pictures above are from my manual VX SS and it went in just fine as long as you can put up with seeing the PRND123 and the LPG windows. (I put some blue electrical tape on the other side of the dial face to disguise them a little bit better) I just popped in...

Also it's worth noting that the manual actually gets better economy than the AFM-equipped auto. If you can find the old VE specs sheet that used to be on the Holden site it states it in there. My 2 cents, cheers.

G'day, Just unboxed a new set of KYB shock absorbers going into my VX SS and I've noticed that one of the REAR shocks when compressed will un-compress itself naturally however the other one will remain in the compressed position and will have to be pulled out to its fully extended position...

Anyone know if you can get different colored facias for the vx/vt clusters to change the color? ie avoid replacing all the lights and doing a custom job to get the needles different colors etc? Cheers.

My two cents: I just bought a set of ovation tires for my VX SS and so far they're awesome. Not too noisy, grips like glue and looks great to. Haven't driven with them heaps in the wet yet but so far so good.

By "low profile" i don't mean LOWER. I mean like a more compact design to free up more space in the wheel arch.

Hi, Just a quick question - I have a VX SS series 2 and was wondering if i need to reset the PCM when installing a new TPS? Or should it work just fine off the bat? Cheers.

Update: the car seems to idle fine once it is moving!? But when it gets below 10km/h just goes back to dropping down to 450ish rpm again...

I contacted Steve from Oztrack and he said it couldn't be the tune as the tune doesn't change in the PCM so if it was operating fine after the tune it must be something in the car. I might have a fiddle with the idle control screw on the throttle body and see if that helps.

Yep tried the idle learn procedure as well straight afterwards like the guide says. I'm going to reset the sensors first to see if that changes anything. This idle problem literally happened the second after i added some more transmission fluid to the car. I don't know how but it seems that...

Tried the PCM reset and if anything it made things worse, nearly completely stalled at one point during the 5 minute idling period!

Because i topped up my fluid and got the same intermittent idle as discussed above. I'm guessing it was because too much air got in?

What's the best way to change the fluid without letting too much air sneak in?

I fixed this on my manual VX SS by pulling the knob off and putting a strip of cloth in between the knob and the stick. I noticed the black rubber stuff had worn off the top of the knob so it was vibrating against the metal of the stick. Cheers.
